Autodesk Competition

Each year, Autodesk, in partnership with the ACE Mentor Program of America, puts on a National Competition for High School students to dream big. Often in collaboration with professional athletes with upbringings in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC), the competition highlights the importance of AEC in the real world, whether you’re a licensed engineer or an NFL Quarterback.

Requirements

The competition project changes each year, and requires a submission through Autodesk’s “Instructables” platform and a digital model. Most importantly, the competition requires students use an Autodesk program to create their design. This can be done with any Autodesk software, including Revit, AutoCAD, etc.! For students that do not have access to a paid subscription, Autodesk has a free cloud modeling platform called TinkerCAD. Many students have won using the free program, which produces great results!

ACE DE Collaboration

To support students in the competition, ACE DE hosts design meetings for students from April through June each year, similar in structure to an architectural studio with desk critique, design review, and working sessions. These sessions give students the opportunity to collaborate with a professional mentor in order to make the most informed decisions on their projects. Just like the ACE Season, these sessions are equipped with free pizza, too.
